A NHS staff member who was redeployed during the pandemic
Michael usually works in the communications department at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, but at the beginning of the pandemic was redeployed to the North Middlesex Hospital to join the team there.
“The morning of my first day I was nervous about being redeployed. I had worked at a PCT and some commissioning support units before but never at an acute hospital. The last time I was at North Middlesex Hospital, I was there as a patient. As soon as I met the team I felt right at home.
Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming, and didn’t seem to mind that I was asking very basic questions,
The Trust had recently restricted visitor access to protect the staff and patients. I worked on cross-site communications to explain the changes and show that no-one was being barred arbitrarily”.
